2026 TxATE Conference Call for Proposals
Plans are underway for the 2026 TxATE Summer Conference, and we invite you to join us for a day of collegial exchange, professional learning, and engagement with the issues that matter most to Texas educator preparation. The Texas Association of Teacher Educators welcomes proposals from teacher educators, P-12 teachers, clinical supervisors, program coordinators, and graduate students engaged in the work of preparing the next generation of Texas educators.
The conference will be May 19, 2026 at the The Woodlands Center-Sam Houston State University. Registration information can be found on the Conference Webpage. TxATE membership is a requirement for all presenters.
TxATE Summer Conference 2026 Call for Proposals
The following strands guide the organization of presentations at the TxATE Summer Conference. Presenters are asked to identify the strand that best aligns with their proposal. Each strand is described below to assist with submission and program planning.
1. Reimagining Teacher Preparation-Exploring innovative approaches, emerging models, and bold ideas that are reshaping how EPPs recruit, develop, and support teacher candidates.
2. Pathways Into the Profession-Examining the full spectrum of routes into teaching — including alternative, residency, and grow-your-own models — and what quality and equity look like across those pathways.
3. Clinical Practice and Field-Based Learning-Highlighting best practices, research, and program designs that strengthen the connection between university preparation and real classroom experience.
4. Advocating for Educator Preparation-Addressing the policy landscape, legislative developments, and strategies for elevating the voice of EPPs at the state and national level.
5. Accountability, Certification, and Program Quality-Engaging with data, accreditation, performance metrics, and the systems we use to define and demonstrate program effectiveness.
6. Teaching and Learning in a Changing World-Exploring how AI, technology, shifting demographics, and evolving student needs are transforming what teachers need to know and be able to do.
7. Partnerships, Pipelines, and P-16 Collaboration-Showcasing collaborative efforts among EPPs, school districts, community colleges, and community organizations that strengthen the educator pipeline.
Presentations will take place in Thematic Round-Table Discussions. Time will be shared between multiple presenters; however, each accepted presentation will have time to present and answer questions. It is anticipated presentations will be 30 minutes; exact times will be shared within decision emails for accepted proposals.
